Lettuce Be

America how you give me freedom,
your restrictions hold me back.
You insist I eat fake food,
What am I a science experiment?
Walking down every isle,
not sure about this product.
Yes genetically modified food,
maybe gmo free.
Who knows, might not be good to eat.
The red tomato is large,
this is a super market,
With not so super foods.
What is the target?
Alternatives are growing your own,
or farm stands near home,
just make it known,
large corporations can be dethroned.

Swiss Cheese Earth

Poking holes like they mean it,
sucking energy from within,
wasting away water,
and polluting the streams.
Why must these clowns continue
to disrupt our dear mother?
To make another dollar,
and act like it doesn’t matter.
Acting in the present and
forgetting the future.
The drilling is killing,
our dear mother,
she’s aging every week.
But still, her beauty is like no other.

FOOD.

Food has never been cheaper or as corrosive to our health and environment.

Quote of the day

"I am convinced that we, as adults, must constantly cling to, affirm, and celebrate with our children those things we love, sunsets, laughter, the taste of a good meal, the warmth of a hickory fire shared by real friends, the joy of discovery and accomplishment, the constant surprises of life. "

Timberline

Fog lifted slower than the sap
dripping off the ragged bark
of the neighboring sugar maple.
Woodpeckers echoed the deep wooded forest
like no other creature from this land.
Walking deeper, crunching leaves with every step.
Just over the hillside
a man stands
in a clearing,
chainsaw in hand.
